Mark's weight troubles started from the age of 4 but didn't really become an issue until he was a teenager. If he got a bad grade in a test, he'd eat. If he got picked on at school, he'd eat. It was an endless cycle that quickly resulted in him weighing almost 480 pounds.
Mark's weight also affected his mental health, but it wasn't until his late 20's that he turned things around. He wanted a girlfriend, kids and most importantly of all; he wanted his life back. So that's what Mark did. He started walking a mile each day and gradually a mile turned into two, and before he knew it, he was walking six miles a day with little problem. He also started going to the gym three or four times a week with his friend, and since losing the weight, Mark now weighs a remarkable 180 pounds but still admits that the temptations to slip back into his old ways are always there.
"Every day is still a struggle;," he admitted, "I don’t want anyone thinking that it’s easy after you lose the weight. I equate it to the same fight I’d imagine alcoholics have. Food will always be around, there will always be temptations, but you have to realize they’re there and you’re ready to handle them."
